Building a Business That Bends: Prioritizing Family Without Sacrificing Success

If you’re passionate about your business but it’s turning into a 24/7 prison – constantly checking DMs at 10PM, squeezing family around work, or freaking out when life happens – this episode is your permission to build a “bendable” empire. Trish shares behind the scenes of batching content and systems that let her fully show up for her daughter’s unexpected labor (and new granddaughter!) without her seven-figure businesses skipping a beat.

No more obsession without boundaries. Trish exposes why loving your work is the sneaky trap that leads to burnout, and how to flip it: Schedule life FIRST, batch extra for emergencies, and simplify to one lead magnet/micro experience/offer/platform. Because if your business can’t run when your kid’s sick or baby’s born – you don’t have freedom, you have a new clock-in job.

💡 What You’ll Learn Inside This Episode

  1. Why passion is a double-edged sword: How obsession leads to no boundaries and constant “just checking” mode
  2. Trish’s “business that bends” mantra: Schedule family first, batch content weeks ahead, and build an “emergency content fund”
  3. Simplicity scales: Why you only need ONE lead magnet, micro experience, offer, and platform (complexity kills freedom)
  4. The “tap, tap, send” life: How batching let Trish hit $50k by mid-January while being fully present for daughter’s birth
  5. Permission to be human: Show up real (hat hair and all) – your audience wants sustainable, not perfect

🔥 Mic-Drop Moments

“The women who reach out to me love what they’re doing. They love it so much, and that’s actually part of the problem – we get so obsessive because we’re passionate and suddenly we never shut off.”

“Your business should work around your life, not consume it.”

“Simplicity scales. Complex fails.”

“If you can’t step away when your baby goes into labor, when your child is sick, when life happens – you don’t have a business. You have a prison.”

🧘🏽‍♀️ Quick Reflections for Your Next CEO Reset

  1. Where am I letting passion turn into obsession – checking DMs at night or squeezing family around work?
  2. If I scheduled my life FIRST (kids’ sports, family trips), how would my content calendar change?
  3. Am I overcomplicating with too many offers/platforms? What ONE thing could I simplify today?
  4. What “emergency content fund” can I build – 5-10 ready-to-go posts – for when life hits?

Trish:

The women who reach out to me love what they're doing.

Trish:

They love it so much, and that's actually part of the problem we get.

Trish:

So obsessive because we're passionate and suddenly we never shut off.

Trish:

We have no boundaries.

Trish:

We're constantly working.

Trish:

Hi, I am Trish and welcome back to Sold Out Sales School.

Trish:

This week has absolutely been.

Trish:

Wild in the most beautiful way.

Trish:

My daughter was due the end of this week and I'm sitting here.

Trish:

I have a sweet baby granddaughter and I want to talk about something that literally saved me this week, and it's building a business that works with your life, not against it.

Trish:

Building a business that bends.

Trish:

That's my new mantra.

Trish:

So here's what happened back in December, I looked at my calendar and I thought, okay, she's due January 22nd.

Trish:

I need to build around that.

Trish:

And you know what a lot of women would have stressed about it.

Trish:

How am I gonna manage my content?

Trish:

How am I gonna manage both businesses?

Trish:

What about my clients?

Trish:

What about my students?

Trish:

What if someone needs me?

Trish:

But here's the thing, I scheduled my entire.

Trish:

Late January, early February around being present for my daughter, not squeezing her in around my business, not hoping I could make it work.

Trish:

I literally built my business to bend around my life, and when she went into labor unexpectedly on.

Trish:

Saturday I was ready.

Trish:

You know what I had to do?

Trish:

Tap, tap, send.

Trish:

That's it.

Trish:

My content was already scheduled, ready to go.

Trish:

My systems were running, my team was ready.

Trish:

All I had to do was show up in my stories.

Trish:

I got into my dms during her labor.

Trish:

I was up all night.

Trish:

Girl, I don't normally do that.

Trish:

And I did my third coaching call for the month.

Trish:

'cause inside my mastermind, I do three coaching calls, which honestly, I love doing my coaching call.

Trish:

So it didn't even feel like work.

Trish:

And here's what I realized.

Trish:

Sitting here, you know, with my daughter and my precious granddaughter.

Trish:

This is the whole point.

Trish:

This is what I've been teaching for years.

Trish:

This is why I left my, you know.

Trish:

25 year marriage and built this empire, not so I could be chained to my phone.

Trish:

Now I struggle with it and I've struggled with it in the past, but not anymore because I do not wanna hustle as hard as I did when I clocked in for 13 hour shifts.

Trish:

But I want to be able to be here when it matters.

Trish:

If I were.

Trish:

Still a nurse.

Trish:

I would have had to ask for permission.

Trish:

I would've had to get someone else to cover my shift.

Trish:

Like it doesn't work the way it does when you have a business that bends.

Trish:

But you know what the problem, this is the problem.

Trish:

What the problem is for most of the women who reach out to me is they love what they're doing, and that's actually part of the problem.

Trish:

We get so upset.

Trish:

Obsessive about our businesses because we love them, we're passionate about them.

Trish:

We believe in them, and suddenly we never shut off.

:

00 PM You're like, honey, I'm just checking real quick.

:

I'm just checking real quick.

:

And your partner's like, yeah, right.

:

Okay.

:

I've heard that before and I'm speaking from experience here.

:

Y'all like, no judgment.

:

We have no boundaries when we're building like that.

:

We're constantly working.

:

Constantly creating, constantly online, and then life happens.

:

Your kid gets sick, your parent needs you.

:

Or in this case, your baby is having a baby and everything falls apart because your business can't function without you being on 24 7.

:

So here's what I've learned.

:

By building a seven figure birth business and a multi-six figure coaching business while homeschooling and having seven kids.

:

And y'all know, even if they're adults, they're still your babies and they need you.

:

Your business should work around your life, not consume it.

:

The reason I see that most mom entrepreneurs feel like they're drowning is because they're building business that constantly need to be at the boob.

:

They constantly need feeding.

:

They haven't created systems, they haven't batched their content.

:

They haven't set up their business to run so that if life happens and their family needs them.

:

They're freaking out.

:

And I get it.

:

You know, when you're selling to moms, when you're building something that's so impactful and matters so much, it feels like you have to be everywhere all the time.

:

But that is backwards.

:

I remember hearing from another female business owner, she's.

:

Said their urgencies cannot become your emergency or their emergency cannot become your urgency.

:

And I, you know, that is our mantra for my team, for my doulas who handle our moms.

:

We are not getting paid to be there 24 7.

:

And you know.

:

We want to provide them with care, but again, their urgency is not my emergency, and I want to teach my clients how that you know that it's possible.

:

It's possible to build something successful like I have, and also be present for the moments that matter.

:

So let me break down exactly how I did this, because I want you to be able to do the same thing.

:

So.

:

I schedule around my life first.

:

So when I'm looking at the month, I add in my family obligations, my children, I even schedule in pickup and drop off and all of those things for my child and his sports, that that goes first.

:

And this time for this for my daughter, I looked at my daughter's due date.

:

And I built my business around it.

:

I get to decide, you get to decide your business bins to your life, not the other way around.

:

So first I, I worked my schedule around Laney's due date.

:

Then I batched my content in advance.

:

So.

:

I had already created and scheduled content.

:

I had it ready to go for Labor Nurse Ma.

:

We had it all scheduled out, not just day or two ahead.

:

I'm talking weeks because I knew this moment was coming.

:

So every time I batched content for the last few months, I would batch extra for January and February.

:

you know what?

:

You know when your moments are coming too.

:

School breaks, family trips, doctor appointments, batch your content around the life you wanna live, and I really recommend that you have a content emergency fund.

:

Okay?

:

So I always have like, and now I use edits and I love teaching women how to use edits because let's just face it.

:

The, the different platforms reward you when you use their tools, so inside of edits I throw a bunch of B-roll and then on a Google Doc I have a bunch of hooks and I just throw them in there and I have five to 10 ready to go.

:

If I just don't feel it, if I'm not.

:

Failing it, and I just need an emergency piece of content.

:

So I recommend you have an emergency content fund.

:

Okay?

:

The next thing is building simple systems that can run without you.

:

So all week all I've done is tap, tap, send, right?

:

Showing up in my stories like a couple minutes a day, and responding to dms.

:

I didn't even do my complete story sandwich.

:

Which you can grab.

:

The link is in my show notes, which is what I teach inside of my mastermind, and it's what's worked for Labor Nurse Mama.

:

I didn't do that this week.

:

I just did one or two stories.

:

And you know what?

:

It's really funny.

:

My stories blew up, and this is my mantra.

:

The fewer story frames you post, the less words, the more they blow up.

:

My story views on labor Nurse Mama, were up into the a hundred and twenties to 200 thousands per.

:

Per story frame and for Trish Ware coaching, I am Trish Ware.

:

It was actually, they were like triple their normal People want to have a glimpse into your life and they don't wanna be overwhelmed.

:

They don't wanna read 700 story sequences.

:

They won't, they'll drop off.

:

So my coaching calls were already on the calendar.

:

We had emails scheduled out for all of January, beginning of February for both businesses, and I already had the challenge scheduled, and so we had everything done.

:

We have systems for our sold out offer challenge that are already in place, and all we do is change the dates so that every challenge I do at every.

:

Six to eight weeks, we're ready to go.

:

And so now, today I'm gonna turn on the ads because guess what?

:

They're already ready to go.

:

I want you to create systems.

:

This is why the platform you use also matters.

:

We use glow up funnels, which is our platform that we built out for parenting and impact driven businesses, women who market to other women.

:

And we have it built out.

:

And I'm able to share my, my systems and my funnels with you guys so that you.

:

Don't even have to create these automations.

:

You just have to edit them.

:

Having systems, having automations in place.

:

This is why inside the Mastermind and if you come to Sold Out offer challenge, I'm gonna teach you that.

:

We do very few things, but we do 'em over and over again.

:

Repetition is where you will grow a six to seven figure businesses.

:

So here's the other thing.

:

Stop making your business so complicated.

:

This is rolling right into it.

:

I'm really tired, y'all.

:

If you're watching the video or you're seeing me, you know I got the hat on 'cause the hair is a mess.

:

I, I don't care.

:

I wanna get back to my daughter and my granddaughter.

:

You don't need 47 offers.

:

You don't need to be on every platform.

:

You don't need fancy funnels that require constant editing and babysitting.

:

You need one lead magnet.

:

You need one micro experience.

:

You need one offer.

:

One platform where your people are, and one system that actually.

:

Work stop over freaking complicating it.

:

If there's anything you get this from today is simplicity scales and complex fails.

:

I have both businesses built on systems that don't require my constant boob in its mouth.

:

Does that hopefully you're, you're like me and that's not offensive 'cause I'm a laborer.

:

That ain't offensive.

:

Okay.

:

Next thing is give yourself permission to be human.

:

I think this is one that not a lot of people talk about.

:

I'm a seven figure business owner.

:

I have two very profitable businesses.

:

I don't show up perfect.

:

My audience doesn't need me to be perfect.

:

They need me to be me to be real, they need to see that I'm building something sustainable and that it's not gonna destroy their life.

:

My people love that.

:

I'm with my daughter right now.

:

It's not hurting my business.

:

It's strengthening.

:

My message look, I'm not gonna lie, this didn't happen overnight and all these people are out there feeding you bs.

:

I'm sorry.

:

It is complicated.

:

It's hard.

:

You do have to have a hustle season to grow what I have.

:

There were years where I was glued to my phone, where I felt guilty for stepping away, where I thought I had to be on on constantly to make.

:

Labor Nurse mama work.

:

It took me stepping away.

:

I hired a coach who taught me productivity and skills on strategies and scaling, and she constantly said to me,

:

complex is going to kill you.

:

Right?

:

Simplicity scales, complex fails and it took me building the business first the hard way.

:

I had such a root system that was like weeds and weeds and complicated.

:

I was on all these different platforms.

:

Nothing was communicating.

:

We were spending money like bleeding money.

:nk I went from spending about::

All the things we will link to glow up funnels.

:

If you want to do like a discovery call, I can go over it and show it with you.

:

If you are a woman who sells offers to women, this is really right up your alley.

:and I hired a team of ODMs in::

so we moved it all to this one platform.

:

And I'm so passionate about teaching this because I spent so many years sacrificing family time thinking that's what it took to build something big.

:

And it's not, and I, I know I've had coaches where I see them, they're.

:

On social media all the time.

:

They're away from their family all the time.

:

They're very successful.

:

They have seven, eight figure businesses, but they're never at home and they're constantly working.

:

I'm like, you're always on your stories.

:

You're always in your feed, like you're always living your business, and that's just not what I want.

:

That is not what I want.

:

I want a business that bends around my family and I know what it takes.

:

It takes clarity.

:

It takes systems and confidence to build your business around your life.

:

So here's what I want you to know.

:

If you're building a business that is running your life instead of supporting it, we need to fix that.

:

Because here's the truth, if you can't step away when your baby goes into labor, when your child is sick, when life happens, you don't have a business, you have.

:

A prison, it's locking you down.

:

It's like clocking into a 12 hour shift again.

:

And that's exactly why I am getting ready to run my sold Out offer challenge.

:

We do it every six to eight weeks.

:

So if you're listening to this later, look at the link and you'll see the current dates.

:

But over five days, I'm going to break down how to dial in exactly who you're talking to.

:

And no, you probably don't have it as dialed in as you think when you figure this out.

:

This is like.

:

Hell yeah.

:

It's on how to create content that actually sells to your BFE, how to build systems that run when you can.

:

And if you're a VIP, you get a full hour of group coaching with me every single day.

:

That is five hours of me opening up the gates and showing you exactly what I do.

:

And I'll audit your content as you bring it in your bio, whatever.

:

And the first five VIPs who sign up, you're getting a 30 minute one-on-one coaching call with me, which normally costs.

:

Thousands, because here's what you need to understand.

:

Content and messaging are the keys to your entire business.

:

If you don't get this right, you will never scale to six or seven figures like I have.

:

But more importantly, you'll never have the freedom to be present for the moments that actually matter, and you might as well clock in.

:

That's how I feel.

:

This week I've been able to hold my sweet granddaughter, support my daughter, and my business kept running, and actually January has been one of my highest months ever.

:

By mid-January, we already brought in $50,000, and that's not luck.

:

That's not magic.

:

That's systems, that's strategy, that's building something that bends instead of breaks.

:

So if you're ready to stop letting your business run your life.

:

start building something that actually supports the life you want.

:

Come join the challenge because your family needs you.

:

There's only one you and there's only one experience with this family.

:

They'll grow up.

:

You need to be present, not just providing.

:

Thank you so much for being here, and thank you for letting me share this beautiful, messy, real life moment with you.

:

Make sure you are subscribed so you don't miss anything.

:

Leave a review if this resonated with you and follow me on Instagram at I am Trish Ware.

:

Now that is your.

:

Cosmic slap on the booty, babe.

:

Let's start selling your offer in a way that gives you your life back.

:

As always, I'll see you again next week.

:

Bye for now.
