You Don’t Have a Strategy Problem. You Have a Shiny Object Problem.

Trish is calling out one of the most expensive habits in online business – and it’s dressed up so convincingly as “strategy” that most women don’t even realize they’re doing it.

You just had another idea. A new lead magnet, a new offer, maybe even a whole new niche. And it feels like this is the one that’s finally going to work. But Trish has a loving question for you: how many times have you done this? Because what looks like a fresh start is actually something else entirely – you just reset your data to zero. Again.

This episode is not about strategy. It’s about the pattern that is quietly defeating every strategy you try. Trish breaks down why women keep starting over, what’s actually happening in the nervous system when an offer gets uncomfortable, and the four-step framework she uses with every client to stop the cycle for good. She shares the story of a client who had built and abandoned four lead magnets in a single year – only to discover her second one had been converting well the whole time. And she makes the case, clearly and directly, that the difference between the women who build momentum and the women who don’t is not talent, not a better offer, and not a smarter strategy. It’s a decision.

Repetition builds revenue. Reinvention resets it.

💡 What You’ll Learn Inside This Episode

  • Why starting over is not a strategy – it’s avoidance dressed up as momentum
  • The real reason your offer got abandoned (hint: it wasn’t broken, it just got uncomfortable)
  • Why resetting to a new offer, niche, or lead magnet gives you a dopamine hit that feels like progress – and costs you everything
  • The one question to ask yourself before you build anything new
  • Why market research is non-negotiable – and exactly what it looks like in 2026
  • Why most offers that fail are not bad offers – they’re the right solution with the wrong messaging
  • Trish’s four Rs framework: Review, Refine, Repeat, Revenue – and why the revenue almost never comes in the first launch
  • The story of the client who abandoned a lead magnet that was actually working – and what happened when they brought it back
  • How to commit without a timeline – and why that’s the thing most women skip

🔥 Mic-Drop Moments

“I am not watching you get a brand-new idea. What I’m watching is you resetting your data to zero again.”

“Most offers that fail are not bad offers. They are the right solution described in the wrong messaging.”

“You do not get there by starting over. You get there by staying the course and getting wiser each time you run it.”

🧠 Quick Reflections for Your Next CEO Reset

  1. Have I given what I have enough time, enough traffic, and enough refinement to actually know whether it works?
  2. Am I making this decision from data – or from discomfort?
  3. Where am I calling something broken when really I just haven’t let it run long enough to tell me the truth?

Trish:

Girl, you just had another idea, a new lead magnet, a new offer, maybe even, "I'm gonna switch my niche," and it feels like this is it.

Trish:

This is the thing.

Trish:

It, it feels like this is the one that is finally going to work, but I want to lovingly ask you something.

Trish:

How many times have you done this?

Trish:

Because I am not watching you get a brand-new idea.

Trish:

What I'm watching is you resetting your data to zero again.

Trish:

Hey, welcome back.

Trish:

This is Trish Ware, and you're listening to Why She Buys.

Trish:

So today, I wanna talk about one of the most expensive and defeating habits.

Trish:

Is that right?

Trish:

Do I wanna say defeating?

Trish:

Yeah, so it's defeating your goals.

Trish:

That's what it is, and this is one of the most expensive in the online business, probably in, like, brick and mortar, but y'all know I don't do that, so… And it's not what you think.

Trish:

It's not having the wrong platform.

Trish:

It's not the algorithm is against me.

Trish:

It's not I suck at content, and it's not even having the wrong offer.

Trish:

It is your little booty having the pattern of starting over and over and over and over again, and I want to really name this and call it out loud what it is and give you a better option Here's what I see, and I see this constantly, and to be honest, my clients struggle with it, and they've been told, "Come to Trish.

Trish:

Like, come to Trish when you get this emotional, like, trigger, shiny penny syndrome." So what I see is you build something, a lead magnet, an offer, a challenge, and you put it out there, and maybe it gets a little traction, but… or maybe it gets none, or maybe it, like, doesn't get what you want. And instead of looking at the data and doing what you should be doing, you look at the numbers and you're like, "Well, crap," and you start to panic. You start to compare, and you start to think, "Well, everybody else is getting results.

Trish:

Like, I saw that lady yesterday, she had a seven-figure launch." And you decide, like, this whole thing is broken, and you throw it into the trash, you pivot, and then you start going down another lane.

Trish:

Or you create a new offer or a new topic, or you switch niches and instead of sticking with one darn thing, you start building again.

Trish:

And that gives you like a dopamine hit because it's exciting, and you're like, "Yes, this is the thing," and you… all that, right?

Trish:

But here's what you're not realizing, is that you just reset the clock.

Trish:

Everything you built for that first thing is gone.

Trish:

You, you didn't get data.

Trish:

You didn't build trust.

Trish:

You didn't get p- compounding attention on the thing.

Trish:

So you're literally starting from scratch.

Trish:

And if you don't get this under control, you're gonna keep doing it, and you're not gonna blow up and build a business the way that you're hoping, because the strategy, the actual thing, is not the problem.

Trish:

It's the fear and panic and starting over that is a problem, and it's, like, dressed up fancy as strategy, but it's not.

Trish:

Here's what I want you to know.

Trish:

Starting over is not the answer.

Trish:

It's not the answer, and it never was.

Trish:

The women who succeed, the women who build momentum, are not the ones with the most creative offers.

Trish:

They are the ones who committed to it.

Trish:

They married it, and they didn't divorce it.

Trish:

They committed to the right offer, and they let it compound.

Trish:

Repetition builds revenue.

Trish:

Repetition builds revenue.

Trish:

Reinvention resets it.

Trish:

It zeros it out, and the difference between someone who figures this out and someone who doesn't is not talent.

Trish:

It's not even a better strategy.

Trish:

It's literally a decision, and it's a decision to stop making emotional decisions and start making data decisions.

Trish:

So I wanna break this down for you today because I want to give you something practical that you can use right now.

Trish:

First, the real reason you keep starting over, it's not because your offer's broken.

Trish:

It is because your offer got uncomfortable.

Trish:

It sat in some silence, and your nervous system freaked the freak out and told you to run.

Trish:

So you do, and you run to a new guru, or you run to a new strategy, or you create something new, and creating that thing makes you feel like you're taking action, and it feels like some momentum, but it's not momentum.

Trish:

It is avoidance, and that is not gonna get you anywhere.

Trish:

So I am going to encourage you, when you feel the urge to build something new, before you do anything, I want you to ask yourself one question.

Trish:

Am I making this decision from data, and enough data?

Trish:

Because one or two launches, three launches, not enough.

Trish:

When I launched my birth course- When I launched my first offer, stepping into the birth course, I was changing it up all the time, the messaging, the, the title of it, the pricing, all of it.

Trish:

I wasn't getting enough data.

Trish:

When I launched the Sold-Out Offer Challenge, the very first month, I had hardly anyone come, and I spent some money on ads, y'all.

Trish:

I could have just thrown the baby out with the bathwater, but what I decided to do was tweak one or two things and run it again, and I did that every single launch until now it's a six-figure launch every six weeks.

Trish:

What if I had gone on my emotions and the embarrassment, right?

Trish:

Of having two to three people show up into the room and just quit it.

Trish:

I would have not gotten to where I'm at now, and I wanna encourage you that when you feel this urge, lean into the commitment, lean into the data.

Trish:

Give yourself time to get data because if you have not given your current thing enough time to actually give you data, if you have not put it in front of enough people, and putting it in front of less than 100 people is not enough people.

Trish:

So if you haven't had at least 100 people go through this funnel, keep going.

Trish:

This is a marketing problem.

Trish:

This is not an offer or lead magnet or micro-experience problem.

Trish:

That's just you being impatient You have to test this for real, and impatience is not a reason to start over.

Trish:

Number two, here is what you need to do before you build anything.

Trish:

Do some market research.

Trish:

Like this is not optional.

Trish:

It's non-negotiable.

Trish:

Before you create a lead magnet, before you build an offer, before you write your sales page, talk to the women you are trying to reach.

Trish:

Now, what does that look like?

Trish:

That… Like right now you have AI, and if you have Claude Cowork, which if you don't, you should, then you can do some Reddit searches, you can do online searches, you can do group searches, and find out what is your BFE, your best fan ever?

Trish:

What is she talking about?

Trish:

What does she think?

Trish:

What does she need?

Trish:

Like do some market research in Facebook groups.

Trish:

Get into some mom groups.

Trish:

Get into, you know, if you're a doula, get into some doula groups.

Trish:

Whatever it is, start talking to the people.

Trish:

Find out what she is actually struggling with.

Trish:

What words she uses.

Trish:

What keeps her up at night?

Trish:

What has she already tried?

Trish:

What does she wish exists?

Trish:

You do not build from what you think she needs.

Trish:

You build from what she tells you she needs, and that, that's two different things, okay?

Trish:

Very different.

Trish:

And when you skip this step, you build the wrong thing, and then you wonder why it's not working.

Trish:

So here's the hard truth.

Trish:

Most offers that fail are not bad offers.

Trish:

They are the right solution, but maybe to the wrong problem, or they are the right solution described in the wrong messaging.

Trish:

Hello, that's everything I do.

Trish:

Both of those problems get fixed before you build, not after.

Trish:

Now, do a lot of the women come into my world with an offer that's not selling?

Trish:

Yeah.

Trish:

Do we recreate the offer?

Trish:

No.

Trish:

We recreate the funnel, the messaging, the steps that get into the offer.

Trish:

But if you haven't built your offer yet, do the research.

Trish:

Get curious.

Trish:

Investigate your BFE.

Trish:

Find out what they are asking.

Trish:

You can follow some of your competitors, get into their comments, get into their posts, and see what are the women actually saying That way you're not guessing.

Trish:

Number three, once you've done that work, you commit.

Trish:

You don't just try it out with a timeline.

Trish:

One thing I heard one time was Maria Went said that most of the women that she knows that have succeeded, they committed without expectation.

Trish:

And I realized, I was like, "Oh my gosh, that was me." Like, I decided Labor Nurse Mama was gonna work, and then I decided that I was gonna do every stinking thing that it takes, but I didn't give it a timeline.

Trish:

I wasn't like, "If this doesn't work in six months, then I'm gonna do X, Y, and Z."

Trish:

I literally just committed, and a lot of people skip that.

Trish:

They do a little marketing research, and then they skip out.

Trish:

They build it, and they launch it, and it doesn't sell much, and they decide it's over.

Trish:

But that's not how it works.

Trish:

One launch, two launches, three launches, that's not a verdict.

Trish:

That is data.

Trish:

So I have a framework that I use in my business, and we teach to my clients, and part of it is my four Rs: review, refine, repeat, revenue.

Trish:

That is the cycle.

Trish:

Not create, abandon, create again, switch strategies, find a new guru, buy a new product.

Trish:

No.

Trish:

Review what happened.

Trish:

Refine what needs to change.

Trish:

Repeat the thing with the refinement, and then the revenue comes.

Trish:

The revenue is almost never in the first launch.

Trish:

It's in, like, the fourth, the fifth, the sixth, the one where you have refined the steps, tightened the messaging, figured out the question she actually has when she gets to your sales page.

Trish:

You do not get there by starting over.

Trish:

You get there by staying the course and getting wiser each time you run it.

Trish:

Here's the thing.

Trish:

This is why inside the mastermind I teach my exact micro-experience method, because we have a very simple bridge, and simplicity scales, complex fails.

Trish:

One offer that we run well, refined, and repeated, and we do that through content, lead magnet, micro-experience, offer.

Trish:

We're not recreating.

Trish:

We're not adding all these new things.

Trish:

We're not creating a new shiny penny lead magnet.

Trish:

We're doing the same thing over and over again, and I get my ladies to commit to a year to get that data.

Trish:

You look at what worked, what got saves, what got shares, what DMs, who signed up, who si- showed up, where were the clicks, where were the click…

Trish:

You know, where did the clicks fail?

Trish:

And you just look at where they drop off, what question she had that you didn't answer, what objection did they say in the comments, and you fix it, and in the messaging, in the positioning, in the offer structure, and that is how you refine, and that is the four Rs working together.

Trish:

That's not starting over.

Trish:

That is just getting smarter.

Trish:

Starting over is throwing away everything you built and resetting to zero because it felt uncomfortable, and that is the most expensive mistake you can make.

Trish:

Like I said before, I've watched this inside my own community,

Trish:

and when a client commits, when she stops bouncing between new ideas and actually stays on the path, the results begin to compound.

Trish:

And I had a client who had built and abandoned four different lead magnets in the year.

Trish:

She kept deciding each one was the wrong topic, and I kept lovingly resending her, redirecting her back to, "Let's do one," right?

Trish:

And then we started looking at her data, and her second lead magnet had been converting really well for the numbers, and she had stopped sending people to it.

Trish:

So we brought it back.

Trish:

We cleaned it up.

Trish:

We cleaned the messaging.

Trish:

We ran it again, and she built her list by 200 people in a few weeks.

Trish:

Same lead magnet that she had decided emotionally it was broken.

Trish:

It wasn't broken.

Trish:

She wasn't checking her numbers.

Trish:

You need to know your numbers, and she just didn't let it work, and that's what I want for you.

Trish:

I want you to stop calling things broken before you have data.

Trish:

Let the data make the decisions, which the decisions will make the dollars

Trish:

So here's what I want you guys to do this week before we close out.

Trish:

Before you build anything new, we're virtually shaking hands here, I want you to ask yourself one question.

Trish:

Go ahead and grab a pen or audio voice note this to yourself.

Trish:

Have I given what I have enough time enough traffic and enough refinement to know whether it actually works?

Trish:

If the answer is no, you don't need anything new, I'm gonna lovingly say, do it again.

Trish:

Do the four Rs: review, refine, repeat, revenue.

Trish:

And if you haven't done your market research, don't skip it.

Trish:

Talk to them.

Trish:

Get curious.

Trish:

Be an investigator of your BFE.

Trish:

Okay, I got a couple things to announce to you.

Trish:

Number one, our next Sold Out Offer Challenge is coming.

Trish:

We do it every six weeks.

Trish:

Trish:

It's going to be in Nashville.

Trish:

The venue, is going to be announced here soon.

Trish:

Trish:

You're gonna leave with a plan, and a plan to execute, not more ideas.

Trish:

Of course, I wouldn't be me if I didn't say we're also going to get rid of your broke-ass thoughts, and we're gonna replace them with CEO millionaire thoughts.
