In this episode, Trish is sharing the thing that has grown her business more than any content strategy, any funnel, or any launch formula – and it has nothing to do with what you post.
It’s getting into rooms. Real rooms. With real people. In person.
If you’ve been building online since forever, creating content into the void, showing up on Zoom, sending emails – and feeling quietly, inexplicably alone in all of it – this episode is going to hit somewhere deep. Trish shares the decision she made at the end of 2024 to say yes to every room, every event, every table, and how that one decision changed everything about her business and herself. She walks through four things she’s learned about in-person events that nobody talks about online, shares how she’s averaged $15,000 in return from every single event she’s attended, and makes the case for why the most valuable thing you’ll ever get from a room is almost never on the agenda.

Okay, so I have to tell you guys something that I did not know for the first, like, five years that I was growing my business, and I don't think this gets talked about enough in the online space.
Trish:The thing that has grown my business more than any content strategy, more than any funnel, more than any launch formula, is getting into rooms.
Trish:A real room with real people in person, and I wanna talk about that today
Trish:Hi, welcome back.
Trish:I'm Trish Ware, and this is Why She Buys.
Trish:ion that I made at the end of:Trish:I decided that:Trish:I was gonna show up in person.
Trish:I was going to stop just staying in my little office creating my content, but I wanted to go places.
Trish:And then in:Trish:So now I'm doing events in:Trish:So today, I'm gonna share four reasons why or four things I've learned about getting into the room with other women and how that has changed my business so much.
Trish:And I think by the end of this you're gonna want to find a room as well.
Trish:So I wanna paint a little picture.
Trish:You know that feeling when you're meeting someone at lunch or dinner, and you're sitting there, and you're just talking.
Trish:There's no pitch.
Trish:There's no agenda.
Trish:It's just you and another woman who gets it, like, sitting across each other, like, being real.
Trish:That is what happens at the tables and in the room of an event, and I did not understand how much I needed that until I was in it.
Trish:ad been building online since:Trish:And I had all the things you're supposed to have, right?
Trish:But I was so alone, and I didn't even realize it until I sat down at a table, and I was nervous, y'all.
Trish:I was nervous.
Trish:But I sat down with these women, and we started talking, and I'm still friends with some of the women from that table, and it's just so hard to explain how much it changed me and how excited I got.
Trish:And not only did it change me and get me excited, but it got my business excited.
Trish:So number one, let's just put this out here.
Trish:Building an online business can be very lonely.
Trish:Building a business in general can be very lonely.
Trish:So You're in your office, you're creating content, you're talking to a phone, you're talking to a Zoom room, you're posting content, you're sending emails, and you're wondering, like, "Is this landing right?"
Trish:Because sometimes it feels like you're posting into the void.
Trish:And the people in your real life who are not doing this, they love you, but they just don't get it.
Trish:And it's really hard to explain to your best friend or your sister why a bad launch week hits the way it does, or how you tried this new strategy and you're freaking out about it.
Trish:But you walk into a room full of women who are doing what you do, and something inside of you, like just a little button shifts.
Trish:It's like a light switch.
Trish:It switches on, and you realize, like, " I don't have to explain myself.
Trish:I don't feel crazy about my little business." You sit down at a table, and within minutes you're laughing and nodding and like, "Oh my gosh, me too," to things that maybe someone else said out loud that you've never said out loud, and it is so powerful.
Trish:And until you sit in a room with other women who are doing what you're doing, you just can't get it.
Trish:Here's another thing.
Trish:Maybe you've been a little burnt out, and maybe you've been grinding, and the energy's been low, and you've been going through the motions.
Trish:You walk into the room, you feel this energy, and you get pumped up in a way that no podcast, no course, no Zoom room, no Reel can ever do for your business, because energy is contagious.
Trish:And when you are surrounded by other women who are getting fired up about what they're building, it fuses into you.
Trish:Like, it seeps into you.
Trish:I have been in rooms where the women sitting at my table have given me one thing, just one thing, that changed something in my business.
Trish:And not the speaker on the stage, not the keynote, but a woman at my table over lunch who said something that I've not forgotten, and that is the thing that a lot of people don't tell you about events.
Trish:Sometimes the most valuable thing you get is not on the agenda, it's in the conversation, and I'll almost say that that's a lot of the times.
Trish:Okay.
Trish:Number two, the return on your investment is so much more than dollars.
Trish:It is so much more than being a write-off, which yes, your ticket, your travel, your hotel, your meals, all of it is a business expense.
Trish:So talk to your accountant about it if you don't have an accountant already.
Trish:But that is a part that's really real, and it matters, as in investing in coaches and strategies, also a write-off.
Trish:But we're not talking about that right now.
Trish:So here's what I want you to think about.
Trish:You walk into an event with an open mind.
Trish:This is key.
Trish:This is key.
Trish:You're not walking in judging.
Trish:You're walking in telling yourself, " I want to leave with one thing, one thing that changes how I think about my content or my offer or my messaging or how I sell."
Trish:This was worth every penny for the one thing, and that might be exactly what happens.
Trish:I don't want you walking in thinking, "Oh, I hope this is worth the money." I want you walking in saying, "What is my thing?
Trish:What is my thing?" Take notes.
Trish:Use Whisperflow, whatever you have to do, but jot it down.
Trish:Like stay engaged.
Trish:Don't be on your phone scrolling.
Trish:Don't be talking to friends, because you need to be paying attention and looking for your thing And I've had this happen.
Trish:Like I told you, I sat in a room, I've sat at tables where I've heard something that shifted the way I was thinking about my entire business.
Trish:Not a strategy I already knew, but something new.
Trish:And a lot of times it was so freaking simple, and you cannot put a dollar amount on that amount of clarity.
Trish:But then there is also the money that is actually trackable.
Trish:On average… Now, this is for my coaching, not for Laban or Sama, so I wanna put that out there right now.
Trish:But on average, I've made about $15,000 from every event I've attended, 15,000 per event, and that is not me on the stage.
Trish:That is not me pitching.
Trish:That is the return on the relationships that I built in these rooms, coaching clients who met me in person and then reached out, podcast guests I've connected with, invitations to be on someone else's show, or speaking opportunities or referrals.
Trish:Women who came into my world on a Tuesday at an event, and they brought their women into my world as well, and those connections are so powerful, and they can turn into real in your bank account money, a real return of income, not just a return of investment.
Trish:The room can pay you back and even more so.
Trish:Number three, opportunities will find you in person that will never find you online.
Trish:And I wanna throw this out here.
Trish:I go to all types of events.
Trish:I go to networking groups in Nashville that have women who are, like, sales strategists at hotels or event planners or whatever, but I have learned from all those women, these corporate women, these women in completely different industries, and women who are building different businesses than I am, I have learned so much because I don't walk into the room like a Negative Nancy.
Trish:I walk into the room thinking, "What can I learn?" Because how someone in a completely different space thinks about their business, their client, their offer, sometimes, listen to me, sometimes this is the thing that cracks it open for you that you never would've found in your feed or with the people in your circle.
Trish:Because your feed shows you more of what you already know or what it knows you wanna know, but it might not be the thing you need to know.
Trish:A room shows you what you didn't know you needed.
Trish:I have also gotten speaking opportunities from events, not by applying and not by pitching, but by being in a room, and they, they learn me.
Trish:This is why my entire strategy inside my mastermind is creating a live moment for your BFE, because it builds trust faster than everything, okay?
Trish:That's a hard thing to happen in the DMs.
Trish:That happens by being in the room with an actual person, like face-to-face.
Trish:Number four… How did we get to number four so fast, you guys?
Trish:The room will change you, but so will the women.
Trish:And I know some of these are a little redundant and they overlap, but this is so… I can't even hardly, like, put this to words, which is unusual for me.
Trish:But there's something about being in a room full of other women who are doing what you're doing or who are building a business.
Trish:They get the loneliness of it, and they understand the weird specific pain of posting and hearing crickets, who know what it feels like to want something so big and so badly and doubting yourself and imposter syndrome, and what it's like to have your cousin say, "Oh, how's your little business?"
Trish:You stop feeling crazy, and you stop feeling alone.
Trish:You start to feel like this is a real business.
Trish:This can be, like, life-changing.
Trish:This can be profitable.
Trish:And that matters for your business more than you realize because your mindset, just like in birth, is 90% of this deal, y'all.
Trish:What you tell yourself matters, and when you get in a room where you feel supported and you feel seen, a different version of you is going to show up.
Trish:The room changes what you believe is possible, and what you believe is possible determines all of it.
Trish:All of it.
Trish:This is why I start out my mastermind with mindset, because you have to be confident and certain.
Trish:Okay, I'm gonna be honest with you.
Trish:When I first started saying yes to events, I was super nervous about the investment, so I would try some that were lower and, like, I wasn't investing in the higher ticket ones.
Trish:I have to travel, so I was doing local.
Trish:What about, like, how am I gonna get all my business done?
Trish:I'm already strapped.
Trish:But I went to the first one that was out of state, and that was a pretty penny, y'all, and I came home from that one with a $25,000 client, podcast connections, and a speaking invitation.
Trish:And I have not second-guessed myself since.
Trish:I keep showing up.
Trish:I keep saying yes to rooms, and every single one has given me something different.
Trish:Now, for your mom-focused business, I've been traveling with babies and bumps and meeting these moms in person and getting content and hearing exactly what questions they're asking me in person that maybe they wouldn't ask me online.
Trish:So for those of you who are like me with Labor Nurse Mama There's two sides to this.
Trish:One is gonna build, like, your business mindset and your excitement and your energy and change the technical and backend sides of your business.
Trish:The other one can be client-facing.
Trish:So go to baby events.
Trish:Get into, Or, you know, if you do something like me that's with pregnancy or babies, but get in the room with your BFE and listen to what she is saying, and you are going to grow so much.
Trish:So here's what I want you to leave with.
Trish:I believe in this so much that I am building my own event, which is Why She Buys Live.
Trish:that I wish I would've had in:Trish:This is not a room full of coaches coaching coaches.
Trish:This is not a room full of people who will sell to the same person.
Trish:This is a room of course creators, service providers, agency owners, women who market to other women, to moms, to consumers, real people, and these are women whose work impacts the lives of mothers.
Trish:That is who this room is for.
Trish:And here's what makes it different from every event I've been to.
Trish:We are not just going to sit there and listen to speakers talking at you.
Trish:This room is going to be full of activation.
Trish:We are going to dial in your content, your messaging, your offer, and I promise you, I am going to convince you to build an experience where your people can actually feel you.
Trish:A live Zoom room, a live masterclass, a workshop, something that you can expedite the trust process so that they will want to buy your offer, because that is what it takes in a AI world.
Trish:You have to be… Is this a real world?
Trish:Uh, experienceable.
Trish:I hope that's a real word.
Trish:But we are going to figure out how to make that happen for your business, and you're going to leave with a plan of action dialed in and ready to activate it
Trish:I will see you guys again next week, and that's your cosmic slap on the booty.
Trish:Bye for now
