Trish opens with a story she heard at church that she cannot stop thinking about – and by the end of it, you’re going to see your business completely differently.
Trish is breaking down the real reason so many brilliant women can spend six months creating content and not sell, grow to 20,000 followers and not increase revenue, build a beautiful funnel and still sit there wondering why nothing is working. It’s not the strategy. It’s that the strategy is being used to fix the wrong thing. This is the episode that will change how you diagnose your business – before you blow anything else up.
💡 What You’ll Learn Inside This Episode
- Why solving the symptom instead of the actual problem is the most expensive mistake in online business
- The four completely different problems that all look like “slow sales” – and why diagnosing the wrong one scales your problem, not your revenue
- Why giving her more information is almost never the answer – and what she actually needs to say yes
- The hidden belief sitting between your buyer and her decision that no sales page, no feature list, and no prettier funnel will ever fix
- Why a launch that doesn’t work is data – not a reason to blow up your offer and start over
- Why the path to your offer matters more than the offer itself – and what changes when she gets to experience you instead of just consume you
- How to stop making emotional decisions and start letting the data tell you what’s actually broken
- The one question to ask yourself before you fix anything in your business this week
🔥 Mic-Drop Moments
“If you diagnose a conversion problem as a traffic problem, congratulations – now you’re just getting way more people to not buy from you. You’ve scaled your problem.”
“Sometimes she doesn’t need more information. She needs to understand why the problem matters, and she needs to see herself in what you’re saying.”
“Maybe your offer is fine. The problem might just be the path to your offer.”
🧠 Quick Reflections for Your Next CEO Reset
- Do I actually know what the problem is – or am I making an assumption based on how something feels right now?
- Am I giving my buyer more information when what she actually needs is to experience me?
- Where am I making emotional decisions instead of data decisions – and what would the data actually tell me if I stopped long enough to look?
💬 Before You Fix Anything This Week – Ask Yourself This

Transcript
I heard a story this week at church that I cannot stop thinking about.
Trish:So a group of thieves break into a tech company in Santa Clara, and they are there to steal a box of electronics, of chargers, to be specific.
Trish:And they take this box and unbeknownst to them, they stole GPS trackers.
Trish:They stole GPS trackers from a company whose literal job is to track things.
Trish:I literally laughed out loud.
Trish:That is a bad decision.
Trish:And there they are stealing the one object specifically designed to tell anyone where they are, the police.
Trish:And that is, that's insane, right?
Trish:I bet they were like, "Oh my gosh, what in the world?" So literally the owner of the company is following the dot as they are going home.
Trish:They are seeing exactly where they are.
Trish:They're thinking, "Wait, who took the trackers?" And somewhere somebody had to be like, "Well, this is fun.
Trish:This is easier." So they turn the trackers on and they could see where their stolen stuff was.
Trish:I have never laughed so hard.
Trish:Now the police are on their trail and the thieves basically participated in their own demise, which is objectively hilarious.
Trish:But here's why I haven't stopped thinking about it, 'cause y'all know the way that my brain works.
Trish:They looked at something, decided what they thought it was, and then made their next move based on a completely wrong assumption.
Trish:And before we get too smug about these guys, right, thinking how dumb they are, who stole the GPS trackers, we do the same thing.
Trish:Business founders, business owners do a slightly less illegal version of this every single day.
Trish:Your sales are slow.
Trish:Oh my gosh, I need more followers.
Trish:Nobody's bought my offer.
Trish:I need a new offer.
Trish:No one is responding to my, my content.
Trish:I need to change my messaging.
Trish:I need to post more.
Trish:And, you know, we start making an assumption on what we are doing right then and there instead of finding out exactly what's happening based on data.
Trish:Because what if the problem is not what you're assuming?
Trish:What if you're staring right there at a GPS tracker and assuming it's a charger?
Trish:that.
Trish:Welcome to Why She Buys.
Trish:I'm Trish Ware.
Trish:I am the founder of Labor Nurse Mama and also Why She Buys, and here is one of the biggest things I've learned from reading hundreds of applications, talking to women in my DMs, doing sales calls, coaching women inside my rooms, and building two seven-figure businesses myself.
Trish:Most of you are trying to solve the symptom, not the actual problem.
Trish:Now, if you're thinking, "How in the hell did I switch this GPS stolen box to solving the wrong problem?"
Trish:The way that I'm connecting this is when you solve the wrong problem, you actually create more work for yourself and go absolutely nowhere.
Trish:And that's why you can spend six months making content and not sell.
Trish:And that's why you can grow to 20,000 followers but not increase revenue.
Trish:And that's why you can build a beautiful funnel, write an email, create a course, buy the software, hire the VA, and find yourself sitting there thinking, " Why the heck is this not working?"
Trish:Because the strategy you're using might be perfectly fine.
Trish:You're just using it to fix the wrong thing
Trish:I see this constantly.
Trish:Sales are slow, I need more followers.
Trish:Or maybe What if you already have enough people looking at you?
Trish:What if they just don't understand what you sell?
Trish:What if they understand what you sell, but they don't understand why they need it?
Trish:What if they understand why they need it, but they don't trust themselves or you to actually get the result?
Trish:Those are completely different problems.
Trish:One is a traffic problem, one is messaging, one is buyer belief, and one is conversion.
Trish:And if you diagnose a conversion problem as a traffic problem, congratulations.
Trish:Now you're just getting way more people to not buy from you, and you have actually scaled your problem, which is not very efficient.
Trish:Then there's the woman who thinks, "I need to teach more. I need to give more information so they can see how valuable I am." And that is probably the one I see most often, because experts, we love to teach.
Trish:The opposite could be you're not teaching at all.
Trish:There needs to be a fine balance, because we know things, and we want them to know that we know the things.
Trish:So if somebody isn't buying, we think, "Maybe she just doesn't understand what I do.
Trish:Let me make another reel.
Trish:Let me explain it for better.
Trish:Let me tell her about the five million features inside of my offer.
Trish:Let me make a carousel with 20 slides about what you get when you buy my offer.
Trish:Or let me give her a free checklist or a free masterclass, or let me build out a 42-page lead magnet that should probably come with college credit." And meanwhile, your audience is like, "Wow, she's really helpful.
Trish:I learned so much from her that I had an amazing birth and I never even bought her birth class."
Trish:And you, AKA me, is sitting there, " Cool.
Trish:That's great.
Trish:Would anyone like to buy my birth class?" Because information does not automatically equal sales.
Trish:Sometimes she doesn't need more information.
Trish:Most of the time.
Trish:Most of the time she needs to understand why this problem matters and how it's affecting her, and she needs to see herself in what you're saying.
Trish:And sometimes she needs to understand why everything she has tried has not worked, and that she needs to believe that there is another way that might work for her.
Trish:And there are times where she believes in everything about you, but she doesn't believe in herself, and that one can be huge when you're marketing to women.
Trish:And I hear versions of all of this all the time.
Trish:Women will come to me, they love the Sold Out Offer Challenge.
Trish:They know that I can help them And the issue isn't actually whether they believe I know what I'm doing, because they do.
Trish:But underneath, they're doubting themselves.
Trish:What if I invest in Content Mastery Mastermind?
Trish:What if I invest in one-on-one coaching with Trish and I don't follow through?
Trish:What if I don't have enough time?
Trish:What if I'm the one person who can't make this work?
Trish:What if my husband is sick of me investing in my business?
Trish:What if I go all in and fail?
Trish:What if I become more visible and people judge me?
Trish:And what if I actually get what I say I want and I can't handle the success?
Trish:That woman does not need me to send her another list of mastermind deliverables.
Trish:She doesn't need me to explain how many calls we have or what's in the portal or how we have project feedback in Slack.
Trish:She doesn't need a prettier sales page.
Trish:There is this underlying belief sitting inside of her between her and making a decision, and if I keep answering the wrong question thinking it's a charger, I'm gonna miss the actual sale.
Trish:The other thing that I hear a lot, especially when women come into my world, is they assume that their offer is bad or wrong because it hasn't been selling, or a launch doesn't go well and suddenly they're rebuilding the whole thing.
Trish:New niche, new offer, new messaging, new price, new funnel, new workshop, new brand, all of it.
Trish:And that, that is a mistake
Trish:You do not want to keep starting over.
Trish:Here's the thing, maybe the offer is wrong.
Trish:Maybe we need to position it again.
Trish:Sure.
Trish:But maybe, just maybe, nobody understood it.
Trish:Maybe you haven't talked about it enough.
Trish:Maybe you've launched it twice and then freaked yourself out and decided that that meant something about it because people weren't buying it.
Trish:And maybe people wanted it, but you were switching strategies and they didn't know what the hell to do.
Trish:And maybe they were getting ready to pay you But you've never given them a chance to experience you.
Trish:So I'm gonna just say maybe your offer is fine.
Trish:The problem might just be the path to your offer, and that is why I am such a believer in live micro experiences, a workshop, a challenge, a masterclass, something where she can come and experience you, not just consume you in three to seven second reels.
Trish:There is a difference.
Trish:She gets to hear how you think and how you talk and how you answer questions and how you coach people, and she gets to see herself inside your work.
Trish:She might even get a small win, and she gets to decide whether she wants more.
Trish:This also changes your relationship with her because you no longer are this presence on social media.
Trish:You are an actual person to her
Trish:And that is so powerful because that makes you stand out from all the other people inside your niche.
Trish:What I see all the time is you guys are getting uncomfortable because something doesn't work immediately, and I'm here to tell you it takes time and a lot of time.
Trish:And if you're making these decisions based on emotions, you're starting over at ground zero all the time
Trish:Did the data support the change?
Trish:Or did Instagram tell you somebody else is making 100,000 a month using something different, and now you are spiraling?
Trish:And I'm saying this out of guilt as well.
Trish:But here, this is where simplicity matters.
Trish:You're gonna review what you did, you're gonna refine it, and you're gonna repeat it.
Trish:And that, my friend, leads to revenue.
Trish:And not overnight, but these four Rs are everything that governs both of my seven-figure businesses.
Trish:Not… It's not this: try it, panic Abandon.
Trish:That is not the cycle.
Trish:So try it, panic, abandon, start the heck over.
Trish:You have to stay with something long enough to learn from it.
Trish:Now, will it be exactly what you launched?
Trish:No We need to figure out where did she stop?
Trish:Where did she click?
Trish:What is she saying?
Trish:Where did she not click?
Trish:What question is she asking?
Trish:What does she actually want?
Trish:What does she say before she buys?
Trish:What does she say before she disappears?
Trish:What language is she using?
Trish:And what is she worried about?
Trish:What is she really worried about?
Trish:And how does she describe the problem?
Trish:What does she actually think the problem is?
Trish:And what does she really need?
Trish:Your buyer is constantly giving you information if you get curious.
Trish:Your business is also constantly giving you information, but you have to stop running long enough to actually look at it, and you have to treat it like a real business.
Trish:And this is where all of this gets bigger than marketing,
Trish:because sometimes you are misdiagnosing what's in the box.
Trish:who is your buyer?
Trish:And sometimes you're misdiagnosing your own business.
Trish:You think you need more confidence.
Trish:Maybe you need to make that scary decision, take action, and let the confidence catch up with you.
Trish:You think you need more information.
Trish:Maybe the problem is you need to implement what you know.
Trish:You think you need a new funnel or a new platform, a new offer, but maybe it's trusting yourself enough to step into the scary.
Trish:You don't need another course.
Trish:Maybe you need proximity.
Trish:Maybe you need a new perspective on what you have.
Trish:Maybe you need someone sitting across from you who can look at the thing you've been staring at for six months and say, "Babe, that's not a charger."
Trish:And honestly, that is a huge part of why I created Content Mastery Mastermind and why we are doing Why She Buys Live in Nashville, because I don't want to put you in a, a ballroom in Nashville and dump 47 new strategies on you so you could go home overwhelmed and never look at your notes again.
Trish:That's not the room I'm building.
Trish:Are we gonna talk about buyer psychology?
Trish:Heck yes, because I'm obsessed with buyer psychology.
Trish:Messaging.
Trish:Yes, we are Offers, sales, content, strategy, of course.
Trish:Because if people do not understand what you are offering, what outcome they get from you, and why you are the person they should listen to, why would they buy it from you?
Trish:I have built two seven-figure businesses, and I can tell you that eventually the strategy is not the whole thing.
Trish:It's not even the foundation of the whole thing.
Trish:We have to talk about the woman running the business, how you are making decisions, how you handle money, how you lead, how you respond when something doesn't, and I'm saying in quotes, "seem to work," and how you recover from the hard times that you're gonna face, and whether you're willing to be seen and to be known, and whether you have the capacity to hold more responsibility, and whether you can sit at a table with women doing bigger things than you're doing and allow it to expand you instead of shrinking you, and whether you can stop asking for permission to want more, and whether you can say, "I want to make a lot of money," and whether the business you're building actually supports the life you wanna live.
Trish:That is business.
Trish:It is the buyer.
Trish:It is the strategy.
Trish:It is the numbers.
Trish:The data gives you decisions, and decisions give you dollars.
Trish:It is the systems, and girlfriend, it's you.
Trish:You are the whole darn thing, and I want women in that room to understand it.
Trish:No matter what they're doing, whatever business they're building, I want you to understand that the magic is in you, and women who will talk about your sales page over lunch and leadership at the soiree, and women who won't think you're crazy because you want a million-dollar business, and women who understand what it feels like to build something while also being a mama, a partner, and a human being with an actual life.
Trish:Because if you have no balance, you have no balance.
Trish:Women who can look at you and what you're doing and help you see the thing you can't see because you're standing too close to it, and sometimes you don't need more information.
Trish:Sometimes you just need the right perspective, you need the right conversation, and you need to make a freaking decision And sometimes you just need to get yourself in the darn room
Trish:So, before you go fix something in your business this week, I want you to ask yourself one question.
Trish:Do I actually know what the problem is?
Trish:Is this an emotional-based decision?
Trish:Am I assuming the problem?
Trish:Not what some woman on Instagram convinced me the problem is.
Trish:What is actually happening in my business?
Trish:Don't blow up your offer.
Trish:Please don't blow up your offer just because one launch didn't work, and don't decide that you need to do more, and don't decide that you need more followers if the 5,000 you already have are not buying.
Trish:Don't create another 37-page PDF because you think your buyer needs more information, and please do not burn down your website at 2:00 in the morning because you had a horrible day.
Trish:Diagnose first.
Trish:Gather the data.
Trish:Be excited about those negative things because that's giving you more data, and you cannot solve the right problem when you've labeled it wrong.
Trish:And for the love of all things holy, make sure that the charger is not a GPS tracker.
Trish:If you know you need a room where women understand the whole business, not just the marketing piece, mark down your calendar.
Trish:Why She Buys Live is January 27th and 28th, and we'll have a link to get your tickets in the show notes.
Trish:It's early bird right now, so get it on sale.
Trish:And that, my friend, is where you belong.
Trish:If you've not been getting in the rooms with other women who are struggling, who are doing what you're doing, you are missing out on one of the most powerful ways in which you can scale your business and you can expedite your growth.
Trish:It's not scrolling Instagram.
Trish:It's not consuming more content.
Trish:It's getting in the room, and this room is going to be incredible
Trish:And that, my friend, is your cosmic slap in the booty for today.
Trish:If you sell it, you'll sell.
Trish:As always, hit subscribe, leave a review, and come back next week because we're gonna be talking about one of the most common things that women say to me, and it's, " I don't even know if I have the right offer," or, "I don't even know what I should be selling."
Trish:And I think what's actually happening underneath that sentence is very different from what you think.
Trish:So I'll see you again next week.
Trish:Bye for now.
